I hold a PhD in Economics from Colorado State University. During my doctoral studies, I held research positions at the Colorado Fiscal Institute, UC Berkeley’s Othering & Belonging Institute, and the Regional Economic Development Institute. Before moving to Fort Collins, I served as a senior economist for the New York City Council, supporting budget negotiations and staffing legislative committees. Prior to that I completed my MA in Economics from the New School for Social Research.
My primary research is focused on Public Finance, Political Economy, Urban/Regional, and Labor. In general, my academic work seeks to explain a number of contemporary and historical issues stemming from the American property tax. I also collaborate with colleagues outside of Economics, including interdisciplinary work with industrial organizational psychologists on questions pertaining to U.S. labor and employment relations.
I’ve had the pleasure of teaching a number of courses at Colorado State University as an instructor of record, teaching both introductory and upper-division courses. I recently designed a new curriculum for an Economics of Social Issues course, which I taught to an exciting group of (mostly) first-semester undergrads.
